The backside of the storm is still in the area as I go to post. It started here around 4am. Lightning strikes have been mostly hidden, contained higher up in the clouds with very few actually visible. So catching this little bit was lucky, as was the location of the strike in this composition near where the waters seemed to part to see that portion of the tree more clearly, which was also lucky since I had the camera on the tripod, framed, and set on Bulb with my finger on the button holding open the shutter, having to accept whatever appeared in the frame. In this image, we are viewing the storm and our shaggy bark maple through a rain soaked, skylight window with shaggy bark maple seeds that have fallen onto the window.
