The baseball world lost a great friend this past week when longtime friend and mentor to many, Dick Birmingham, lost his battle with heart disease. I just returned from Springfield, Missouri where Dick was laid to rest. Dicks life reached many and it was evident by a packed Immaculate Conception Church yesterday. I want to thank you my good friend for the last 30 years of friendship and a meaningful relationship. From the Mickey Owen Baseball School, Sao Paolo Brazil, Tokyo, Austria, Serbia, Croatia and throughout the United States coaches clinics and speaking engagements you have opened door after door for me and I will never forget that. Clearly, you were like a second father not only to me but many others. You will be missed by so many. Ill never forget you General, and your humor. Until we meet again, as long as you let me coach 3rd. Bill
