The beginning of the production marks another major successful step in Enis activity in Congo,a few days after the announcement of the excellent results obtained in the Minsala Marine 1 drilling area, offshore Congolese waters, in the Marine Block XII. The Nene Marine field, located at a depth of 28 metres in the ocean waters and near the already existing plant, produces from the Djeno installations at 2.5 kilometres beneath the surface. The complete development of the field will take place step by step and envisages the installation of production and drilling platforms embracing over 30 wells, with a ceiling of over 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/day). The production of the first phase, of 7,500 boe/day, is collected by a local platform and is then sent off to be processed at the Zatchi production platform, run by Eni, via a 17-kilometre underwater pipeline. The Nene Marine 3 installation has produced over 5000 barrels of oil per day, with a 36 degrees API density, reported the communique. In recent years, Eni has harvested about 3.5 billion barrels of equivalent oil at the Marine Block XII installations, 1.5 billion of which come from the Nene Marine field, which offers new opportunities for further development. The latest Eni discovery in Congo dates back a little more than a month and is located in the Minsala Marine 1 drilling area, which produced spontaneously over 5000 barrels of light oil, with a 41 degree API density. Claudio Descalzi, Enis CEO, commented: The beginning of production at the Nene Marine, eight months after obtaining the production permit, is a major result for Eni, and confirms our strategy of enhancing drilling resources, thanks to the technical and planning capabilities of the company and to the integration of drilling, operational and development efficiency. With its company Eni Congo S.A., Eni runs 65 percent of Marine Block XII. The other partners are New Age (25 percent) and Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo (10 percent ).
