The belief of the early church Was able to find a regular pattern of statements that were made about Jesus from very earliest times . He called this pattern of statements the kerygma , A Greek word meaning the declaration . Every authentic account of the Christian massage contained theses statements : etc It also seems likely from evidence in Pauls letters as well as Acts ,that the recognize qualification for an apostolic preacher was that he had seen the risen Jesus . This was explicitly made a condition when the apostles came to appoint a successor to Judas Iscariot , and Paul also claimed that his own vision of Jesus on the road to Damascus gave him the same statues as that of the older apostles .
