The best Mermaid ukulele song? I am a little biased but I think - TopicsExpress

The best Mermaid ukulele song? I am a little biased but I think so. This tune was written for my mermaid Shauna, not the man as some people think. Its a song of hope for how life could make a complete circle for her. Some people think the man is me, but everyone knows that old fishermen should be strictly catch and release when it comes to mermaids. There are a lot of subtle things in this tune. The dogs represent the mans wealth, so when they have seven kids, one for each dog they are actually having the number of children they can afford. I have this mental image of mermaids as angels without wings, so the mermaids help the couple build their house and take care of their children when they leave home (the island). In the first part of the tune where the chorus is whistled, the man and the mermaid are getting to know each other - so they need a little privacy. The mermaid hits her head and forgets her home, just as a woman leaves her family to start a new one. And the children each have a little tail because even though they are human, they have qualities of both parents. Of course, the song is about the storms and miracles of life that all work together to an end. The first storm is the man realizing he is alone with his wealth. And in the end of life here on our island (earth) we are all just a collection of memories stored in bottles up on a shelf in the coral house. I violated the rules by writing such a long song like this - I had to tell her whole story. But its a really simple song to play, it just repeats over and over. I will post a how to play video or tabs when I can. No fancy video or even studio quality sound, sorry. Maybe somebody will draw the characters someday, or even design a hula dance to tell their story. That would be awesome. I appreciate you watching - say a little prayer for my mermaid? Mahalo!
