The best diet I get asked all the time about what diet is best - TopicsExpress

The best diet I get asked all the time about what diet is best for losing weight, gaining muscle etc etc and to be honest there is no one size fits all answer. There is no one path to reach a certain goal, sure they may be a more optimal route to take but that doesnt mean that approach is for everyone. It can get confusing with the sheer amount of information about specific diets on the internet, in magazines and what is popular with celebrities. Most of these fad approaches should not be undertaken by the average person but can be tailored to fit needs of the individual. Diets that have been tried and tested throughout the years can be easily fit into most peoples everyday regimen. For losing weight the obvious answer is reducing calories whilst increasing the amount of workload undertaken throughout the day. This should be a long step by step process as any rapid weight loss usually results in rapid weight gain when the individual is unable to maintain their diet/exercise. For putting on size the opposite approach should be used (obviously still training to make sure the weight gain is lean tissue). The quality of the calories should also be taken into consideration as I am against the calorie is a calorie approach to dieting. Obviously different sources have different functions within the human body e.g. protein for building and repairing muscle tissue. Although I have kind of gone off on a tangent from the point of this post the main point to take away is that the best diet is the one that you are able to stick to! Yes a low carb approach may work for losing weight but if you find yourself binging after a few days following this approach, another method may be better suited. Yes a bodybuilding approach is good for adding lean tissue but the shear amount of meals may not be able to fit into your schedule. I have found a flexible approach where you can eat anything you want in moderation is best for most, increasing or decreasing total calories dependent on goal and allowing yourself to have foods that you can enjoy without suffering through the same bland meals again and again.
