The best post all day... A riot is the language of the unheard. MLK. Thing is weve had so many of these incidents complete with the hoopla that follows in the media, the pretense that folks care and then the resulting lack of change till the next time, that people feel like all that peaceful jazz means nothing and that hopelessness, that anger, that feeling of helplessness sometimes manifests itself in this way. Everyone keeps talking about channeling your anger into one thing or another... to me much of that talk is mere lip service for many folks. Not excusing the looting, especially when I believe there is a criminal element in the mix that seeks only to take advantage of a bad situation, but I understand it. For as long as black lives are treated as dispensable and for as long as people who helped build the very foundations of this nation are dealt with as second class citizens, then such is the millstone that will continue to hang around the neck of this nation.
