The best resolution one can make this new years is to read the Bible for the first time, read it again, or read it more often. In no other source of literature, do you find words of encouragement, of morality, of love, and forgiveness. Not to mention, that it is the only book in the world given to mankind, in which we are introduced to the creator of Heaven and Earth and given directions on how to have a eternal relationship with Him. So many people feel like man is unable to properly interpret the Bible and therefore needs a church, a pastor, or a tutor in order to properly read the Bible. Thats not true, God made his word available to all, not just the super-religious. Prayer and meditation on the word of God is all one needs to be instructed on what God is saying. I personally have a reading plan established that I love and will try to adhere to for the rest of my life. I read 1 book, or an average of 30 chapters a day, This allows me to read the Bible all the way through every 30-35 days and around 12 times a year. Ive had this plan for the last 2 1/2 Years, it works great. Once I get to Revelation, I go right back to Genesis and start over. I wouldnt trade my time with God for anything in the world. Not only do I become more mature as a Christian, but I become more confident and deep-rooted in his promises and love. I become more peaceful, joyous, grateful, and God-willing, more Christ-like. Nothing else matters. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:8-9 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. - Psalm 1:1-3 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:6-9 This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord. - Jeremiah 9:23-24 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord... - Jeremiah 29:12-14 ...my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. - Hosea 4:6 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. - Amos 8:11 But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. - Luke 11:9-10 “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. - John 14:25-26 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. - Acts 17:27 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. - Romans 10:17 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 3:12-17 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him. - 1 John 2:27
