“The big picture” Luke 7:12-15 NIV 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” 14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. A woman’s world had just been devastated. Her only son and last means of earthly support had just died and she was about to have him buried. Then Jesus appears and says “Don’t cry”. Most might say this is an odd thing to say to a grieving mother, but most do not understand Jesus. The moment His heart went out to her, this woman received comfort from her grief and despair. His words “Don’t cry” were to prepare her for what was to come because knew the big picture of what He had in store. We see the here and now rather than what might be. Our God has so much more in store for us if we will only trust and believe. What does he have in your tomorrow? You might be just as amazed as this woman was. Love you guys.
