The biggest battle we have as a cancer patient, is the view into the future and the what ifs. We want to live, but we are afraid. We are afraid of leaving the people who have depended upon us without our support. We are afraid to accept the support from people who we care about and we are afraid to seem weak. We are socialized from day one to be strong and we are at a total loss when dealing with this affliction that weakens our body, our hopes, our emotions. We realize that we need other people. We need the care, the love and support of all those in our lives because really, seriously, we can not walk the path alone. That my friends, is what scares us the most.
