The biggest problem Syrians have with Obamas decision to bomb - TopicsExpress

The biggest problem Syrians have with Obamas decision to bomb Islamic State positions in Iraq is that there was a much more compelling case of humanitarian intervention in Syria and the administration ignored it. Then, a case was made very quickly to protect the Iraqi Yazidis; Kerry even warned of a potential genocide. Meanwhile there is an actual genocide going on in Syria, right next door, which is being conducted jointly by Assad and IS, and the G word has never once been invoked. Lets face the facts: 7,000 Syrians, mostly Sunni Muslims, have been killed by IS. They are a real threat that must be destroyed. But it was Assads genocide and war against the Syrian people which opened the door for such radical jihadist groups to grow in the first place. It was the Assad regimes invitation of Hezbollah and sectarian militias that fueled the extremism from abroad. And now, Syrians are watching as the United States demonstrates once and for all that Syrian blood is so cheap that it doesnt even deserve to be labeled as the genocide that it is.
