The biggest test of your character is whether you can live with - TopicsExpress

The biggest test of your character is whether you can live with yourself alone - happy, satisfied and content. This would also determine how happy you would in your life. After all, if you cant live with yourself, how can anyone else live with you? Last month, in my quest for nirvana, I had gone out on a mission to be alone. It was a one week journey in the country side, devoid of material comforts that I am used to. I am happy to report that it is a journey that I will make many times over. I met Tarah from Ireland who hops across nations and settles down to be a fitness trainer in small resorts for a few months, earns some more money and moves on. I met Antonio, on a sabbatical from her work for an year and decided to spend 51 weeks experiencing the world. I met Fabrizio who retired and travels 10 months a year away from his family in Sweden. I also felt that Fabrizio made adversity into an opportunity and travels the world to be on his own, away from his family. Fabrizio said I am my own best companion however insignificant and laughable it may be to my family. Much of our unhappiness is due to our yearning and a desire to be recognised. We make little effort to live life and understand ourselves. We tend to be in a race to satisfy people who should not be a part of your Eco-system. We run, sweat, work, shout, scream, cry but rarely try to live for ourselves. We live a life that is largely a facade. And the only result of this is an unhappy you. My resolution is simple. I want the silence that comes with the dawn, the sound of birds chirping away in the middle of a jungle, the roar of a wind gushing against me on a beach. I will live with myself while I make others happy. I will not give the power to any one else to make me unhappy. I will not empower the world to decide for me. I will be happy. I will smile. I will breathe fresh air. I will live with myself, alone.
