The bond between me and my son is incredible. It started back when he was still in his mommy’s tummy. I would come home every night and immediately start interacting with lil Blakey Blake. I would read him stories, talk about my day, sing him songs (I can’t sing a lick), talk about the lakers/trojans and much more. It would irritate @shadonna so much but I didn’t care. I could not wait to meet my young king. Finally the big day came. The doctor decided to induce her labor. About halfway through the day, they came and told us his cord was wrapped around his neck and that they might have to do a C-section. Man talk about nervousness. I had never felt that much fear in my life but I knew the lil guy was going to be alright . God is good. The cord ended up unwrapping on its own and he came shortly after. Here’s the cool part!!! When he came out they laid him on his mom’s chest and I watched him take his first breaths of life. Man greatest feeling ever. He laid with Nu for a couple of minutes then they said it was time to cut the cord. As soon as they picked him up he started crying hysterically. He was so scared and how could you blame him? They took him over to the incubator and I followed while he screamed his little healthy lungs out. I couldn’t take it anymore so I started saying “Blake don’t cry… It’s gonna be ok… I’m here…” I promise as soon as he heard my voice he started trying to open his little grayish blue eyes and looked for his daddy. I reached for him and he grabbed my finger. Immediately he stopped crying and he started breathing normally. From that point on in that delivery room he didn’t cry 1 more time (even during his shots). That taught me so much. It showed me the true definition of trust. That baby didn’t know anything about life. He was so scared. Yet when he heard my voice and knew I was there, he knew there was nothing to worry about. I made a promise to Blake Anthony Lee that night that I would do any and everything I can to make sure he always feels that level of Security when daddy is around. A promise that I will never break! I LOVE YOU SON!!!
