The brain’s central auditory processing centre has a routine way in which it perceives noise. When a problem occurs that disturbs this process, a person might have difficulty in tolerating sounds that may not sound loud to people around them. This is called Hyperacusis. Sounds from a running car, boiling kettle etc can be perceived as loud sounds by a person with hyperacusis. tinnituswars/remedies/TinnitusWarrior.asp
