The bucket challenge has now officially jumped the shark and is more about wanting to be part of the cool kids club than it is about raising awareness of and funds for ALS. How do I know? Because Sarah Palin cuted her way through a vid. Because the Old Spice Guy has an SFX laden video. Because models and athletes are doing the challenge video naked but for a sock over their junk. Because Paul Ryan and a number of other Republican congressmen and senators who voted to defund federal aid to companies and organizations working to cure ALS, HIV, Alzheimers Disease and a number of types of cancer each glibly uploaded their videos. They snatched BILLIONS of dollars of funding away from these organizations, then wrote a check for a couple hundred bucks....and its all ok because they dumped a bucket of ice water on their head. Its the internet fad-sensation-cool-kids-table everyone wants to be part of because it gets them attention and cool points Wake up. How many thousands of gallons of water have been wasted on these challenge videos when California and a number of other states are suffering some of the worst drought conditions in decades. If you feel strongly about ALS research being supported, donate. Then go make sure you are registered to vote and do uour homework....Make a conscious effort to give your vote to candidates who support re-enstating funding to ALS research as well as other diseases. Charity should come from the heart and should not require being guilted into participation or a desire to be part of a fad.
