The call for Economic Freedom in our Lifetime is a call which even the most liberal amongst us agree that is not only necessary but also inevitable!! What is key though is how this call must be achieved, and this is where the line between the genuine working class champions and the rest are clearly drawn apart. The ANCYL in its 24th National Congress in 2011, defined its own set of ideas and clarified its strategies towards the attainment of this clarion generational call, in a congress constituted of more than 5000 delegates!! It is indeed welcomed for anybody to locate their dark-small-little-political corner and chant the slogans for Economic Freedom, what will not however be taken serious is when such a disgruntled group of fellows elects to carbon copy the strategies of the ANCYL and present them as though they own them. The resolutions of the ANCYL were arrived at and endorsed by young people in the ANC and are as such not personal-political-properties of any individual, to behave contrary is a sign of the highest levels of political-self-centreism and smacks of dictatorial tendencies in the extreme!! When one starts thinking that by leaving or been made to leave an organisation because of ill discipline, then the set of ideas which he or she participated in will be dormant without him or her then you have clear sign of misguided arrogance and unparalleled falsehood. Indeed the insults hurled at the leadership and membership of the ANC are a clear sign of political desperation and must never be dignified with responses, I urge the ANC to really move away from responding to anything that can scream, even some misguided socialites!! Some of these fellows appear surprised that the ANC is a multi-class movement and as a result an ideologically contested terrain, they insult the current leadership of been co-opted by capital simply because they declare the NDP a neo-liberal document, creating an impression that the elected leadership chooses policy options and imposes them on the membership and as a result depicting the more than a million members to voting fodders, mischievous indeed! They conveniently forget that even GEAR was welcomed by the ANC and later rejected due to a consistent onslaught by the working class in the ANC. Why would you then want to make us believe that NDP is the everlasting definition of the ANC policy choices? We refuse to be defocused and shall continue to work hard in delivering an overwhelming victory of the ANC in 2014 general elections and continue to champion the genuine interests of our people, the ANC has never said that it is without weaknesses nor that it possesses a panacea to all socio-economic challenges of the country. It has on many occasions accepted its weaknesses and built on them as it continues to do so, and our people are a big part of the renewal process and will demonstrate their faith in the ANC once more in 2014.
