The career of these two horses has been long, eventful and fulfilling. As working horses they have carried precious cargo and had important jobs. Mitchell the fearless leader, super walker and total character, has even overcome gaseous gangrene in his younger days when on a trip and continued on with the group walking over Bogong to get home. For the past few years Luke has had the job of carrying the lunch box (and beer) never having to be led, just following the along with the herd, I have never seen him bang the side of his loads once. I honestly think he has whiskers, I saw him poke his head between two trees as if he was assessing the possibility of getting through and then, backing away making the decision it was too small and looking for another route. These horses have never missed a trip for being lame, always been dependable and are now heading off to have a wonderful retirement. Please share any pictures or stories you have of these two old fellas. :)
