The children of Bas Limbe desperately need our help. The children pictured here have all attended our malnutrition program at Haiti Village Health, however, we have not yet been able to help them. We have had to stop our malnutrition program because of lack of funds, meaning that families who do not earn enough to feed their families have lost our support in bringing their malnourished children out of danger and into better health. It costs approx. $70 per child to provide the nutritional supplement, ‘Medika Mamba’ (‘peanut butter medicine’ in Haitian creole), with additional costs of medication needed to treat the secondary complications of malnutrition. We normally treat between 15-25 malnourished children from the area of Bas Limbe every month, and without this program these children are not likely to survive their childhood.
