The coming of our Savior is something we celebrate for good - TopicsExpress

The coming of our Savior is something we celebrate for good reason. We realize this act of God was a pivotal moment in time for all of humanity. Our celebration is an acknowledgement that the coming of Christ was necessary. Our need was not for a moral teacher to enlighten us on ways to behave better. People dead in sin are not in need of behavior modification. People dead in sin need life and the very Word that spoke this world into existence is the One that humbly came to give us life abundantly. Jesus Christ entered time and space in a manner that is scandalous yet historians acknowledge the fact of His existence. While the religions of the world acknowledge His place in history, they differ on who He was. Some say He was merely a good teacher and a moral man but Christians claim He was God incarnate. Those who deny Him as God incarnate move forward with plans and schemes to save themselves. Grace is not an option without Christ so they move forward in their respective religion, working hard to prove themselves worthy of salvation. This results in perpetual hopelessness and despair. Many in our world today who embrace Him as Lord and Savior are persecuted and killed as a result. Others wield their power to keep His influence out of the public square and many individuals work hard to resist His claim on their own life. Jesus Christ is threatening to the establishment because if His life and death is valid He has a right to hold humanity accountable to Himself. He would not simply set the standard. He becomes the standard. Those in power fear the implications of such a reality yet those who acknowledge their need of a Savior find real hope.
