The constantly recycled escapist obsession with end times prophecy - TopicsExpress

The constantly recycled escapist obsession with end times prophecy is a bit baffling. In my view, there are FOUR things that every Christian must know...and they are actually quite simple. (and they have nothing to do with four horsemen, by the way) 1. Faith in Gods plan is a necessity. Hes got this. Times are tough, but we are assured of victory in the end (thats a pretty good summary of the Revelation of Jesus Christ) 2. Faith in Gods provision is a necessity. In the face of Ebola, ISIS, the creeping threat of government over-reach...God has provided all things necessary for life and godliness. It begins and ends with Jesus. 3. Faith in Gods perspective is a necessity. Life is short. Why waste your time and resources borrowing trouble from tomorrow? Trust God today. Trust Him with the future. Remember, He has the LONG VIEW. He knows YOUR story from start to finish. To quote a Casting Crowns song, Hes already there. In light of eternity, our finite worries are really petty and trivial. 4. Faith in Gods proclamation. Saved by grace through faith...He who started the work is faithful to complete it...predestined to conformity to His Son, Jesus...victory over sin, death and the grave...and the trump of God will sound, the dead in Christ will rise first...a new heaven and a new earth... I could continue, but I hope you see, we have a place to stand. Final point. Let me paraphrase Acts 1:11 - Men and women of God, why are you continuing to stare at the heavens? What exactly are you waiting to happen? Just as Jesus rose, he will return. His return is closer, today, than it was yesterday. Our task is not to study prophecy and predict His coming. Our task is to share the Gospel. Now, lets get to it.
