The controversial East West Link will be one of the new Labor - TopicsExpress

The controversial East West Link will be one of the new Labor governments first priorities, with new Premier Daniel Andrews seeking advice on releasing the contract details to the public. And he reiterated that Labor would not build the road. The road is not going to be built and the contract is not worth the paper its written on, he told the ABC. Mr Andrews said on Sunday morning that one of his first moves would be to release the contract details, saying he would be talking to the department about its publication. This has been a rushed and botched and all-too-secretive project, he told channel Nine. I have a very clear mandate to release all the documentation, the business case, the contract and the side deal. Well be getting advice from the bureaucracy later today about making good on our commitment to release all of those documents. He said there had not been one shovel of dirt moved on the East West Link project. I stand by each and every one of the election commitments weve made. He said Labor would immediately start on the Back to Work act, the first law to be passed under the new government, as well as removing level crossings and saving TAFE colleges. We wont be wasting a day, he said. Mr Andrews did not mention the project during his victory speech on Saturday night. Senior Liberal Robert Clark said Mr Andrews would have to face reality on the East West Link.
