The creatures closest to God are infants and dogs. They naturally possess the unconditional love which is not only representative of God, but, according to hallowed scripture, IS God. We love them because something inside us longs for the world where that type of love is universal - with its innocence, where betrayal is unknown. We want to be like them, in the one case, where the smile is spontaneous, in the other, where the tail is ready to wag with joy at the slightest show of kindness, even in circumstances of squalor and pain. By comparison, performing miracles and casting out demons profits nothing. Im not the one who said that, so dont blame me.
