The crummy economy is having a huge impact on the lives of animals . Shelters are busting at the seams . They are always FULL ! The overcrowding causes animals to die . No kill shelters are RARE and there arent any I know of in Houston or the surrounding area . Austin has one that I know of for sure . If you find a stray please dont just take it to a local shelter as your first course of action . Please alert local veterinarians, local shelters , and your neighbors in case someone calls looking for their animal . We had a dog spend one night before his owners were found . Thats not too bad at all . Please dont dump your animal at a shelter because you dont have time for them, dont want them , etc. Try to work with a local rescue group ! Dont list your animals on Craigslist ! Please try to work on a solution that doesnt put your dog in danger! Animals are frightened in shelters . Please , be part of the solution not part of the problem . One reason foster homes are needed is because rescue groups are FULL ! They need temporary homes for dogs and cats . If there arent fosters .... Animals will not get out of shelters .
