The current referendum push by the Governors is uncalled for. This move will again polarize the country and economically the country is not ready for another politicking season! With the Cord effect in the referendum,this will turn out to be another political competition thus dividing the country further at a time when everyone is calling for a national reconciliation. Its barely 4months since the Jubilee govt came into power,why is it so hard for the county govts to give the central govt a transition period of at least a year? Pushing for more funding and devolved functions is a noble 1,but the timing is really wrong!! Its like bearing a kid today and the following day u want him to compete with Usain Bolt in 100M split!! Devolution in the UK has bn in practice for the last 14 Yrs.,the devolved Govts of Wales,Scotland & Northern Ireland has bn tolerant enough with the Central govt at London. Why is it that CORD is so vocal in this referendum? Why is it that they want the referendum to be held as a matter of urgency and to coincide with the Hague trials?? Why do they want to enjoin this with Senate bn given more powers and termed as the upper house? For me Devolution is a Journey and as far as am concerned,No need for this referendum and the Senate shud actually be scrapped!! cc: Isaac Ruto & Company.
