The current standards of loyalty and love that prevail are the same as those that prevailed at the time of pre-Islamic Jahiliyyah (Ignorance); i.e., stand by your brother, family, clan, friend, or country, regardless of their injustice. This is justified in the name of patriotism, nationalism, friendship and relations. But sincerity towards another is that which will help them on the Day of Judgement. Brotherhood in Islam requires that we explain, stop and prevent our loved ones from oppressing others.
