Please see the message below for more details on submitting a statement of interest. ______________ Here is a great opportunity for you to get involved in determining the future of Young Professionals in Transportation- Los Angeles YPT will soon be conducting elections to select the 2014-2015 YPT- Los Angeles Chapter Board of Directors. If you would like to run for a Board of Directors position or vote in the election, please continue reading below. Directors typically offer a time commitment of 3-5 hours per week. Directors must be able to attend in person or be available to call into monthly Chapter Board of Directors meetings. Note that you will be getting another similar email to this for elections for the National Board of Directors positions. NOMINATION PROCESS Nominations for one of the Board of Director positions (described below) should be submitted by e-mail to YPT at [email protected] by Wednesday, September 17, 2014, 6:00 PM. Please submit your name, title, organization, contact information, the position(s) for which you are seeking nomination, and a candidate statement (1 page or less) addressing why you would like to serve on the YPT-Los Angeles Chapter Board of Directors. Please submit all of this information in a single MS Word file. CANDIDATE AND VOTING ELIGIBILITY In order to run for a YPT- Los Angeles Chapter Board of Directors position or vote in the elections you must be or become a paid YPT Member by Wednesday, September 24, 2014 11:59 PM EST by following this link: https://my.yptransportation.org/join. If you think you are already a Member but are unsure, you can check your membership status by logging into https://my.yptransportation.org. ELECTIONS PROCESS September 24, 2014: All eligible voters will receive the full slate of candidate statements via email (there will also be a National board ballot sent that day). October 13, 2014: All eligible voters will receive an email with voting instructions. Online voting for National and Chapter elections opens at 10:00 AM EST. October 24, 2014: Online voting for National and Chapter elections closes at 6PM local time. Pending any runoff elections, the results will be made available to the YPT membership in early November. The new Board term for all winning candidates will begin on November 1, 2014. LEADERSHIP POSITIONS Elections will be held for the following YPT- Los Angeles Board of Directors positions. Terms of office are one year, from November 1 to October 31. There is no limit to the number of consecutive terms a Board Member may serve. Candidates may run for multiple positions. If a candidate wins more than one position then that person may choose which position he/she would prefer to serve. Chair: The Chair is responsible for day-to-day implementation of the policy and guidelines of the Board of Directors. The Chair shall preside over Chapter Board meetings, create and appoint members to Committees, and act as chief official representative of YPT- Los Angeles. Deputy Chair: The Deputy shall help to coordinate activities involving multiple Officers and assist the Chair in his or her responsibilities. In the absence of the Chair, the Deputy Chair shall act in the official capacity of the Chair and perform all duties of that office. Secretary/Vice Chair for Administration: The Secretary/Vice Chair for Administration shall keep full and accurate records of all business and proceedings at Chapter Board meetings. The Secretary/Vice Chair for Administration shall prepare meeting minutes, keep accurate organization records, and manage the election process. Treasurer/Vice Chair for Finance: The Treasurer/Vice Chair for Finance shall be responsible for the collection of dues, and the safekeeping of funds, including reporting of receipts, expenditures, and balances at the request of the Chapter Board. Vice Chair for Programs (2 positions): The Vice Chair for Programs shall be responsible for developing all programs for the Chapter and planning and executing at least eight events per calendar year including educational and social programming. Vice Chair for Communications (2 positions): The Vice Chair for Communications shall be responsible for developing and executing the communication strategy for the Chapter including an outreach plan for new member development.
