The death of Moses is on my mind... May sound like a strange topic - TopicsExpress

The death of Moses is on my mind... May sound like a strange topic to some, but the Lord drew me to Deuteronomy tonight with such a pull that I couldnt ignore it. In Chapter 32 Moses sings his elaborate and prophetic song over the Israelites; it goes on for 43 verses, telling them about who they are and how they will turn their back on the Lord, that He will take His gospel to other nations (thats us!), and then redeem His servants and avenge their blood. Moses talks of Israel, but more than that who her God is. Then in verse 48 the Lord tells Moses to climb Mount Nebo in the land of Moab, across from Jericho, to view Canaan. God tells Moses he will see the promised land but will not be able to enter. At this point my spirit is crying out and my heart is breaking for Moses, and I find myself saying, Oh Lord, let us not break faith with You and be forced to look upon the land of promise from afar! Chapter 33 Moses goes on to speak a blessing over each tribe of Israel. Then in Chapter 34 it says, Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land - from Gilead to Dan, all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea, the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. As Im reading this I can picture it being similar to what it was like standing on top of one of those mountains in the Idaho wilderness territory and being able to look out as far as the eye can see - from mountain ranges, to desert plains, to lakes, and even more mountains. And then it hits me - THE LORD HIMSELF is standing beside Moses on this mountaintop, showing him all the borders, showing him each tribes territory. Moses may not have gotten to enter the promised land, but he was able to spend his final moments with his best friend - God Almighty. The Lord loved Moses. Then it says in verse 5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. HE BURIED HIM IN MOAB... THE LORD buried Moses. It says no one knows where his grave is - that is because the Lord Almighty gathered Moses to Himself. Remember James talking about the devil and Michael the archangel fighting over the bones of Moses? The Lord gathered Moses to Himself - something that had never been done before that we know of. Verse 10 says, Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew FACE TO FACE. Wow Lord, You are so wonderful and GOOD. You are unfailingly KIND. Thank You that even if things do not always turn out as we thought they would, You work out a beautiful ending for those that love You!
