The decision by the Infosys board to hire an outsider, Vishal - TopicsExpress

The decision by the Infosys board to hire an outsider, Vishal Sikka, as the CEO of the company has been greeted by bewilderment and shock in Congress circles. “How can they treat the Infy yuvraj Rohan so shabbily?”was the common refrain heard in 24, Akbar Road. “If they didn’t have confidence in Rohan, they could have opted for his sister, no?” some others shouted. A veteran Congress leader and member of the CWC said this is not the way to deal with setbacks. “All organizations go through lows from time to time, yaar. That doesn’t mean you dump the founding family. The correct approach, in this case, would have been for Shibulal to take responsibility for Infy’s dismal performance and offer to make way for Rohan. We could have also lent Antony to the Infy board to author a ‘reasons for the flop show’ report in which he would describe how and why Infy programmers failed the Murthys. Antony sahab has authored many such reports for the Congress.” Mani Shankar Aiyar was far more scathing, calling it a fascist move. “One Gujarati prevented our beloved Rahul baba from becoming India’s PM while another Gujarati has edged out young Rohan. I see parallels with the rise of Nazi Germany here. There are dark days ahead for Infosys,” Aiyar observed. There were also unconfirmed reports that members of the TNYC staged protests outside the residence of Phaneesh Murthy. Former Infosys CEO Nandan Nilekani, however, declined to comment on the less than enthusiastic Congress reactions, though he has a huge stake in both Congress and Infosys. “Yaar, I gave Adhaar to crores of Indians but now I am confused about my own adhaar as to whether I am a politician or not,” was all that the tech czar turned Congress leader ventured to The Unreal Times. A Infosys spokesperson also declined to comment on the Congress reaction but threatened to send a defamation notice to The Unreal Times for trying to bracket Infosys with India’s grand old party in their articles.
