"The definition of the Sabbath over the years had had lapsed into a tradition that became far removed from the biblically-based command to use Sundays to joyously worship God, focus on Him, and re-energize the mind, body, and spirit through restful activities. Case in point- One particular farmer was haying one Sunday because he saw an ominous threat of rain in the skies. Later in the day, his minister visited him in his fields to scold the farmer for his sin of skipping morning service. The farmer replied, “Pastor, isn’t it better for me to be haying here in my field, thinking about God, than to be in the pew thinking about my haying?” It is better for us to learn and apply the correct methods of biblical interpretation than to merely follow the traditions of our ancestors.
