The devaluing of a human soul… I just watched a portion of the movie Twelve Years a Slave. Couldnt watch it all. This is, perhaps, the most gut wrenching movie I have ever seen. Mans inhumanity to man and all justified by such a perverted sense of righteousness. Any time another human beings life is devalued short of what God intended, it is like taking a cord of whips and striking the Son of God again and again because we strike out against the very LOVE OF GOD that sent Him to deliver us. Each time we see ourselves as being something more than our fellow, regardless of who that may be, we devalue them and strike again the Son of God! What right have we to deem ourselves as being of more worth and more righteous than another?!? Each time we put our needs above anothers, we have devalued that one whom Christ died for and judge ourselves as being unworthy of the blood He shed. Each time we seek our own pleasures, we crucify again the Son of God. Each time we open our mouths in judgment of another, in gossip, in false tales, in slander…we speak in judgment against ourselves. For judgment has never been given to mankind but judgment is by the ONLY RIGHTEOUS JUDGE…God Himself. Father….Forgive us our transgressions. We are unworthy of Your love and Your mercies. Only by the righteousness of Your Son are we given the right to approach You, not because of any good thing we have done but ONLY because of His perfect life and His sacrifice on that Cross for us. Enable us to see ourselves correctly, both where we came from and where You are bringing us…from darkness to light. Give us of Your strength and ability to do what is just and true. Give us of Your Spirit so that we may truly KNOW You, not with lip service but from the heart. Have mercy on US LORD and cause our feet to walk the straight paths YOU have set for us. Renew a right spirit within us so that we will no longer stray from Your Ways, turning neither to the left or to the right. Cause us to look straight ahead where YOU are. Search the inner most parts of our hearts and purge from us all those things that are NOT YOU! We humble ourselves before YOU Oh LORD and choose not to put our trust in man nor in the thoughts of the heart of man. Cleanse us… Purify us… Make us holy as You are Holy…
