The devastation was surreal, people were not expecting that the typhoon was too strong for us to handle. I was thankful that there were more men in our house than women..because we tend to breakdown and cry if we see others sharing the same fear and sentiment. It was scary and hurtful to experience and look at how your place was being torn to pieces and you can do nothing to make it stop. After the storm, people in DAGAMi started to tend their own homes, buy food which were still available, and had their rice harvest milled..it seems people in DAGAMI are very eager to recover from the storm. Whenever planes and choppers pass us by, we look up to the sky hoping that help will soon come and we were disappointed, it seems DAGAMI is not that big of a town to benefit from relief operations. After 3 days, help came 1 kilo of rice for every voter..nothing more, and the sacks of rice were wet. It was just okay for for some who have their own milled rice but was bad for others who havent. Help came from family members who were not affected.. bringing food, water and other much needed help to their own families and it was really such a relief. But, since security became a problem people started to abandon their houses for fear that intruders might steal and not spare their lives. I think if theres military visibility in our area,it would have been better..20+ policemen will find it hard to protect people from barangays. It was hard to see the devastation, and it was more heartening to leave your homes and think of sarting a new chapter of your life in another place. Were really thankful that a lot of help from other countries came and are now felt throughout the city. They sparked our hopes that maybe we can go back and continue what we had before. Thank you to all the volunteers, family members and for the prayers. There are still a lot of people who needed help in our town. They are staying, hoping everything will turn out just fine.
