The disciples were not theologians, they were not scholars, nor did they have theological degrees from any prominent Seminary of the day, they were fishermen, with Matthew being a tax collector. Jesus could have chosen the elite of his day, the wealthy, the prominent, the high brow segment of Israels society to come and follow him and make them his disciples. Instead, he chose those who were not well educated, the lower class of society - the poor, to change the world. The deciding factor of the disciples was their faith, they believed and trusted God and God worked through them performing miracles across the land as they preached Christ to all who would listen. Never allow others to condition you where you are with Christ or how you are to be used by God. Men have a habit of establishing prerequisites on what is required to be a preacher of the gospel, yet God has one requirement - faith in Christ. As long as you have faith in what Christ did on the cross, God can and will use you far beyond your wildest expectations. Its not your degrees or economic standing in society which God considers whether or not he will use you, he looks at one thing and one thing only - the heart. Will you trust him enough to do what he asks? Thats what God looks for in those he uses, are they willing to walk by faith and trust him? So dont allow pre-set religious traditions or man made ideas thwart Gods perfect will for your life, because what the religious establishment dont tell you is that all they can do is limit a person, but God breaks every barrier created by man and can thrust you into the spotlight leaving others to wonder how did that happen? Trust God, look to him and he will use you as long as your heart is willing to be used, and stop looking to men for your advancement - look to God.
