The documentary about the Democratic Republic of Congos Virunga National Park in the east of the country, in North Kivu bordering Rwanda, has received an Oscar nomination! Please take into account that during the war in the Eastern DRC in the Kivus that has been ongoing back and forth since about 1996, many rangers have been deliberately killed for their work in protecting the mountain gorillas, other animals and the national park itself. They and their families have paid a very high price for the protection of the animals and the environment during incredibly dangerous and challenging circumstances and that without their very persistent and courageous work there would be very few or no animals and wildlife to protect anymore. The rangers really do deserve a lot of praise!
