The dollar gained some ground against the yen as there are some hopes that the US politicians may reach an agreement to raise the country’s borrowing limit (failure to do so will imply that the US defaults on its debt), however it remains vulnerable as the US government shutdown continues. Against the euro and sterling, the greenback remains flat on the day as trades are reluctant to take large positions with the US Government Issue still ongoing and no important data on the economic calendar today.
