The dust has settled & Im ready to reflect on the past week at our first #kaylmccamp of 2014. We started off with a day of technique training where Jamie & I taught 15 of some of the most common OneMind Dogs Techniques. The dogs & handlers did a great job at practicing the moves & had lots of opportunity for repetition! Practice makes perfect they say :) Then from Thu-Sun - we taught 2 handling seminars with students who have already worked with me before. They already had an understanding of how & where to put most of the techniques so I really challenged them on some fast & technical courses! I was so pleased with how everyone did. The positive atmosphere that lasted LITERALLY TO THE END OF THE VERY LAST DAY made it easy for me to keep my energy level up! Some handlers were challenged with some techniques that were a bit outside their comfort zone, but by the end of seminar - everyone was seeing some success. Connection, mental focus, timing & rhythm all had to be in order to get through the sequences! I saw some amazing runs that literally had me jumping for joy. I am truly lucky to be able to teach something that I love so much to people who feel the same way about agility. Its the perfect scenario really! We tried some out of the box ideas as far as the format for the working & auditing spots. Im very happy with how things turned out. Everyone got lots of floor time & all the dogs ended the day being very tired & happy. I was especially happy with how the Team aspect was played out. People got so attached to their little teams & the support everyone showed each other during the challenges was so amazing to see! Congrats to the Teams who won the Clear Round Challenges on Day 1 of the Handling seminars and the Creative Sequences/Virtual Dog Challenge on Day 2. That gave me some great laughs :) Thank you to the amazing working auditors who kept things rolling everyday! Its impossible to put on an event without people like you! Jane Shelegy, Heather J Barker, Denise Bond, Nancy McInnes, Mark Herfert & Steve Walsh. You guys are always awesome! Thank you to my incredibly talented boyfriend Ken Steepe who was attached to a the camera lens for 5 days! He captured so many amazing moments throughout the week & was able to keep everyone up to date on the fun we were having at the McCann Agility Arena! Congrats to the 3 social media winners who earned the title of the most hashtags of either #kaylmccamp or #OMDpack - Karen Childs, Nell Hamilton & Lauren Porty. Also behind the scenes - Ken made sure our dogs were well cared for every day & the that the house stayed in one piece when I would come home & crash in bed early (so amazing to be able to sleep in my own bed while teaching!!!!) Youre the best Jammin! Thank you to my amazing assistant coach Miss Jamie Moreau (Jme Lulunewtwinkbat) - I am so glad I was able to have you aboard this amazing week! The students were able to benefit from your quick eye & depth of knowledge of dog training & agility! I know you have a VERY busy life outside of teaching with me, so thanks for being a part of this - maybe we need a spa day to allow our feet & muscles to recover? :P Lastly, but most importantly! Thank you my Moe & Daddio Deb McCann, Marti McCann for all the hard work you did to make this happen. Dad made sure our arena & grounds were in tip top shape for everyone & Mom (organizer extraordinaire) allowed for things to sail along with NO glitches. I sure hope I can find more of those organization genes you MUST have passed on to me.... they are in there somewhere! Thanks for giving us the rockstar treatment all week! :) Phew! It was a week to remember :) Cant wait to do it again (just maybe after some recovery time ;) Until next time......
