The easiest way to spot rose rosette in area of the country where its not widespread is to look for roses exhibiting significant winter injury. Once you find a rose with multiple dead canes, look for rosettes on the remaining live canes. Rose rosette significantly decreases carbohydrate storage needed for new growth in the spring, which leads to cane dieback. A rose with this much dieback and multiple rosettes should be removed. AW
