The elected Govt. of Kerala which included V. R. Krishna Iyer as a minister, was dismissed by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru invoking Article 356 of the Indian Constitution. When Mr. Iyer went to persuade Nehru before this action, he was asked to convince Indira Gandhi (the then Congress President) first. It is widely believed that it was her personal decision to dismiss the first democratically elected communist government in the world. Was is it morally or ethically right of the same Krishna Iyer (then Honourable Justice V.R Krishna Iyer) to decide her election petition (filed against Allahabad High Court ruling unseating her as Prime Minister) in 1975, when it is said that Justice should not only be done but manifestly be seem to be done? Was unseating her a sweet revenge?
