The emotional centers of our brain react to perceived threats - TopicsExpress

The emotional centers of our brain react to perceived threats equally as much as to real threats. When a parent doesnt see a reason for a child to be scared and yet a child is expressing fear a better response is to validate, listen and reconnect. When a child demonstrates his fear he is acknowledging what is emotionally true for him in this moment. How we as parents respond will either foster our childrens emotional awareness or stifle it.
