The entire time I was watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, I - TopicsExpress

The entire time I was watching The Grand Budapest Hotel, I believed it to be directed by the Coen Brothers - an insomniac mistake from the synopsis of another movie I was researching at 4am in the morning - but as I progressed, the quirkiness and eclectic nature of it constantly drew me back to Moonrise Kingdom, a Wes Anderson production, and, in my mind, I was pleasantly amused that there was such a strong parallel in directorial and story-telling styles. Imagine my even more pleasant surprise to find, at the end, that it was indeed directed by Wes Anderson. That being said, The Grand Budapest Hotel is an extremely delightful watch, with a gripping story that weaves a hilarious narrative of betrayal, faithfulness, love, intrigue and constant danger with such perfect precision that you are left thoroughly satisfied. With a huge, superbly talented cast and the most unexpected cameos, Id give this 100%, but as a matter of principle, Ill tone it down to 98%. This genre is not everyones cup of tea, but I very, very strongly recommend The Grand Budapest Hotel.
