The excitement of early aeronautical success is captured here as the 1907 Voisin biplane takes flight in France. It was this design that allowed French aircraft designer Henri Farman to make his first cross country flight in 1908 (as pictured in the Scientific American) which lasted some 20 minutes. This success comes only 5 years after the Wright brothers first successfully flew a plane by use of propeller. The spectacle, buzz and excitement to reach such success is plainly evident in the exuberance displayed by the two seen chasing after the Voisin biplane.
