The experience of youth in the state of Montana, if experienced - TopicsExpress

The experience of youth in the state of Montana, if experienced out in the woods and mountains, is incredible. Butte and Bozeman? Not far enough north, my friends, there is much to be seen before you reach Canada. Glacier, the mid-ranges of the Rocky Mountains, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, the Gates of the Mountains, and many more larger-than-life landscapes await the venturous. I must admit, I did not see as much of Montana as I should have, with my head in computer screens and books my whole life. Fortunately, the help of the Boy Scouts and my Dad made that difference and dragged my ass out into the woods for hikes and work alike. Opportunities to take week-long hikes, going in ranges of 10, 20, and even 50 miles round-trip into that country were proving grounds for the better part of who I am now. I would never have done that without help, Do not waste that chance. There are national parks across the United States that are incredible in their own right, and I grew up in the midst of a few. Even now, I dont think the prospect of a job could take me away from areas where those parks could be accessed so easily, with Utah being my current resource--unfortunately, so far wasted with inaction, but Im looking to change that, and so should you. Be prepared, get out and see it before the clock stops ticking. SIDENOTE - In the video linked here, there is a view of what looks like a natural wall, like a hill shorn off at the peak and drops off into a valley. That is Haystack, and is a decent uphill hike in the Bob Marshall WIlderness.
