The factional Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, who is also the Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Jonah Jang, has described Governor Rotimi Ameachi as the Chairman of the opposition governors’ forum. Jang, who gathered 16 votes as against Amaechi’s 19 during the NGF election in May, which was held in Abuja, said in a statement on Tuesday by his faction’s media office, said it was no surprise that the Presidency recognised him (Jang) as the chairman. According to the statement by the Media Officer, Mr. Kassim Yakubu, Jang said the forum was formed for peer review and to work in consonance with other tiers of government to provide needed social and economic elevation for Nigerians. The statement said, “Instead, Governor Amaechi has turned his team into an opposition group. They are now obsessed with the Presidency and the Federal Government. “Even the recent retreat they had turned out to be like an anger management conference to vent against the Presidency and the Federal Government. “Nigerians want peaceful and sensible coexistence between the tiers of government and the recognition that governors are elected primarily to run their states and they know that the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, under the chairmanship of Jang, is clearly in line with the national mood.”
