The family of the man accused of stabbing 4 people on an Amtrak train headed for Port Huron spoke exclusively to Fox 2 Saturday. Michael Williams family may not know what prompted the 44-year-old to allegedly commit the crime on board an Amtrak train from Chicago to Port Huron, but in the back of their mind the reality of Michael doing something like this has been a fear for some time. Ethel Williams, Michaels grandmother says, There is something wrong with him. Everywhere he goes he thinks someone is following him. Ethel Williams raised Michael like her own child. At 18 he joined the Army, his family says he saw combat as part of Operation Desert Storm. When he came back from the war his family says he was never the same acting paranoid and delusional. He kept saying somebody was chasing him, that they were trying to kill him, says Williams. The family says he left from Atlanta to Chicago and was heading to Saginaw when something triggered the attack on the train. Police say the four people stabbed, including the conductor, are hospitalized in stable condition. Williams family say they feel horrible for the victims and hope that something can be done for their loved one as well. According to police Williams is being held in the Berrien County Jail on $1 million bail. He is facing preliminary charges of four counts of assault with intent to murder. The family says they have tried to get Williams medical help in the past. They said he wouldnt take his medication and refused to admit he had a problem. No court date has been set yet for Williams, although Niles police say he is likely to be arraigned Monday.
