The favourite drink in Southern France, especially Marseilles area is an aniseed (Saunf) flavored drink called Pastis, and the most famous brand is Ricard Pernod. Its a very popular drink in the whole of Mediterranean region.. and is known by different names, like Raki in Turkey and Ouzo in Greece. Yeni Raki is a superb one.., as is Ricard Pernod which we used to have so frequently during my days in France. Its a colorless distilled drink like whisky, but turns Milky like buttermilk (Lassi), when water is added to it.
