The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools - TopicsExpress

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 KJV The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward (perverted) mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13 KJV To FEAR the Lord is (as fear is translated from the Hebrew and Greek) to be reverent, to be in awe, to be humbled by, to have respect, to also be terrified.... to know His great power, mercy, grace and love but also His justice and wrath. A truly loving person is also just. He tells us He disciplines those He loves... He corrects, He judges. We must FEAR the Lord. For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:26-31 (KJV) See what the Bible says about Fearing the Lord: openbible.info/topics/fear_of_the_lord
