The final cap to a great season was just about picture perfect... as me and my shrooming buddy Michael Gerdes made our way through the lovely downtown area Cedar Falls we just minutes away from meeting the Rick Rummel award winner Mark Kelley. Little did we know of how awesome of a character we about to meet. Well after nearly not having to use to gps lol we finally pulled up to the Kelley kingdom ! Which is his personal forest smack dab inside the city.. truly amazing place.. When i saw all the planters and wild cats, deer feeders, bbqs and smoker, wood shop, fishing poles and his pick up truck pulled in with a cooler of Old Mill i was like yeah me and this dude are going to get along hehehe... I can say with out a doubt Rick would have been proud to hand off this walking stick to Mark....He may be tough as nails but he can be a gentle giant at the same time.. seeing Mark with his grand kids and lovely wife Nancy, I knew the rummel award was in the right homestead for 2014....I can say Mark loved the award and all the wonderful comments from everybody ... but what Mark enjoyed the most was making new friends and just loved contributing to the group the most over all... Mark thanks for the awesome day beers ,,the laughs, meeting your amazing family, showing me your secret fishing hole lol And for the rest of you thanks for basically giving me a second job for like a good month or so bahahahaha jk I really couldnt be happier with everyone and there contributions to this group...some contributions to the group havent even been brought to light yet hehehe got to save some of the goodies for another day... I would like to give one last thanks to everyone that has been apart of team MHI My very beautiful and lovely future wife Ashley Spencer, best shroomin partner Micheal Gerdes, original member Amy Halder for your contributions,, and newest member Mark Kelley.. And to Jim Arnesen for making one hell of a award to give away! So as far the 2014 Morel season goes this is my final adieu to all you wonderful folks have a wonderful summer ... dont be afraid to post anything else you do out in them woods or other mushrooms you may hunt for in the Morel off season.. plus we may have some events being lined up to get together and make some new friends.. Well Iowa its been a grand one hope to see you all with a sack full next season!!
