The first day of the Hebrew new month is a holiday called Rosh Chodesh. Today is Rosh Chodesh Sivan; the new month of Sivan. In Sivan we celebrate Shavuot (or Festival of Weeks) when the Israelites received the Torah on Mt. Sinai...that is why this Rosh Chodesh is extra special; it the month that we were given the greatest gift by God. Here in Israel, we celebrate holidays by reciting Psalm through singing, dancing, and joy and sending light and joy to the darkest places of the world. May this month of Sivan bring us a renewed connection to God, a deeper understanding of His word, and a burning Love for our fellow man. Amen!
