The first frame is a beautiful painting done by our art teacher Gary Shoirweid that my mom purchased and I inheirted. The second frame is a tempura on cardboard painting I did in art class which earned a remark on the back of Excellent Design and Color A++ written in his characteristic red pen. I got a chance to see his brother Larry at the Wilmot 50th anniversary and he said he remembered me and I was so glad to tell him something that both the Shorweid brothers taught me. They were from Nebraska and I always thought there was nothing beautiful about the farmlands of Nebraska. But both of the brothers involked alot of beauty in me pertaining to that part of the country. Think of a scarecrow, a windmill, a decaying old farmhouse with musline curtains blowing out of the windows. I was wrong. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there is no part of Gods Good Earth which is not beautiful unless it has been destroyed by man!
