The first full test of my collaboration with Matt Elson, this is just a basic test pattern, what I have in mind will blow your mind! I love collaborating with other artists and the new ideas it brings. The faces I saw inside the box on the edges from Matt’s painting, the circles outside framing the opening, and all the mirrors within inspired my idea as well as his overall ideas and how the box is designed to interacted with others. The design I created on the top is based on a face, but also the mathematics that comprise life and what is beautiful. The face is mirrored on left to right, but slightly different like the face you show the world and the face you have yourself. Within each element are circles representing the circle of life, pi, everything.... which is all then reflected in the mirrors that fall off like a circular center of a carousel. This again represents the circle of life but changes based on your perception and how you look at it. This piece really needs to be seen and experienced in person as does real life, photos and videos just can’t capture all the beauty and wonder.
