The first month of 2014 provided a painful reminder about the role of access restrictions causing humanitarian vulnerability in the oPt. In the Gaza Strip the humanitarian situation has been deteriorating largely due to the restrictions on the movement of people and goods between Gaza and Egypt, both through the official crossing and illegal tunnels. These restrictions, implemented by the Egyptian authorities related to their military operations in the Sinai, worsen the impact of the restrictions imposed by the Israel authorities as part of the blockade. Access restrictions and security threats have also been impacting agricultural livelihoods in some areas of the West Bank.
